FastTrack has automated trading models to help you pick the funds that best meet your objectives. You might think that the same infor is available from TD Waterhouse website, but the "Analyst Picks" list  is dated, and offers no help with diversification.

Modeling

This FastTrack chart takes the 1,000+ equity funds in the T D Waterhouse fund trading program and computes a short list of the best funds each quarter. Then, quarterly,  FastTrack shifts 25% of assets among this short list of funds, an S&P 500 Index fund, and Treasury bonds. This strategy produced the 17.53% annualized return shown in red since 1994.

While there was a steep draw down in 1999, the strategy had good returns during the ensuing 5-year bear market. The Modeling is not optimized. The trading is based entirely on the returns of the funds during the previous quarter.
